Andrew Jackson was known to be the hero of common man because he won the first man elected from tennessee to the house of representatives. he also served briefly in the senate. jackson was a major general in the war 1812, he became a national hero when he defeated the british at the new orleans on january 8, 1815. His army also won numerous victories. Andrew Jackson was the key president in determining the future direction of the U.S. and is considered one of the most constructive leaders in America's history. Though many thought that he used democracy to win the people over and use their support for other objectives, I believe that he really looked out for the common people, believed in them, and wanted to make sure that they had all of the rights and privileges that they deserved. Jackson knew that the Second Bank of the United States was too powerful and that it also had become corrupt. He also thought that it was only beneficial to the rich and not the poorer industrialists.

I agree that Jackson was concerned about the common people. By destroying the U.S. Bank he helped resolve corruption in the economy. Taking that action also helped ensure that the poorer industrialists had equal opportunities.

i agree Moya this is very true, Jackson did "watchout" for the common people. By pushing democracy he helped to touch the smaller industries.

I disagree with Moya, because Jackson did not know that the Second National Bank of the United States was "too powerful and that it also had become corrupt". He felt that it had become corrupt because of his personal feelings. A president cannot base reasoning for destroying the National Bank of the United States on his feelings. As you see, Jackson's "feelings" that money should be backed by gold or silver led to the Panic of 1837.
